3 Decades of Sport and Fitness

I was only about a year old when my uncle picked me up and noticed something wasn’t quite right.
It turned out I had a muscle deficiency on the left side of my body, below my chest. The doctor offered a simple solution: gymnastics or swimming.
Fast forward a few years. At age five, I jumped into a pool for the first time, and it became my second home for the next nine years. Two-hour daily training sessions quickly became the norm. It's funny to think how many hours of my youth were spent staring at the bottom of a pool. Or how much chlorine I must have absorbed over those years.
The sport, the effort, and the discipline became the foundation of who I am. Looking back, I feel as though my genetic makeup shifted during those formative years. Today, I can't imagine life without working out multiple times a week. I need physical movement as much as I need oxygen. Exercise has become my therapy, and without it, I genuinely think I’d fall into depression.
That said, I completely get how tough it is to stay motivated. It rarely comes easy. What made all the difference for me in my late 20s was realizing I need variety. Sticking to a single routine just didn't work. Now, I constantly mix it up: gym sessions or home workouts, swimming, runs, cycling, or the occasional game of padel. Half the battle is simply finding what keeps you genuinely engaged.
I'm now 35. It's been 3 decades since the foundation was laid. My hope now is to instill that same lifelong dedication to sport & fitness in my own children. I'm excited to see which sports they'll grow to enjoy.
Take care of your body.
